ENS & Temporary Workers Visas

The standard business sponsorship (subclass 457)  has been abolished and replaced with a new visa “the The Temporary Skill Shortish Visa (TSS), Subclass 482”.

This new visa (TSS) enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in genuinely skilled workers where they cannot source an appropriately skilled Australian. TSS visa holders can work in Australia in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor under one of three streams:

– Short-Term Stream

– Medium-Term Stream

– Labour Agreement stream

This visa is for 2 to 4 years, depending of the stream and particular case. However after being working with the sponsor employer for 2 consecutive years on the Medium-Term Stream the applicant could possibly apply for ENS visa.

The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) allows Australian employers to sponsor employees who are foreign nationals for a permanent visa to work in Australia.

This visa is for Australian employers who want to sponsor highly skilled workers for a permanent visa to work in their business. The employees can be highly skilled workers from overseas or highly skilled temporary residents currently in Australia.

Visa applicants who are currently living and/or working in Australia on a qualifying visa can apply for the onshore ENS (subclass 856) visa. If you do not hold a qualifying visa, you may still be eligible to apply onshore if you last held a qualifying visa no more than 28 days prior to lodging an application.
